Not Just a Hamper for Your Clothes Anymore

When you look around your home, what do you see? Are there piles of clothes littering the dining room table or mounds of clothes taking over the couch? Maybe you have other areas in the home that could use some serious organizing, or even a revamp or refresher.

Well, look no further. Those hampers you have laying around the house are no longer strictly for clothes anymore. There are many different ways you can utilize a hamper for clothes- after you use them to put away all those clothes lurking around, that is.

The following are just a few ways you probably haven’t thought of when it comes to using those hampers you thought were only reserved for clothes.

Impromptu Baby Bed

When you have a tiny baby that wants to do nothing but sleep all day, it can prove to be difficult to move a bassinet or playpen around the home, so you can keep little one close, while you are still able to get some chores done.

A laundry basket is a good solution for small babies and makes the perfect nap time device that is also easy to move around the house with you without having to disturb or interrupt little’s sleep.

Simply lay a few blankets on the bottom for some padding, swaddle your newborn, and gently place them in the basket. Remember, of course; this should not be considered a permanent sleeping solution and baby should be supervised at all times when napping in the laundry basket.

Container Gardening

Yes, you can even use one of these hampers outdoors for easy container gardening! You can use them to plant herbs or tomatoes or whatever fruits and vegetables you want, and they make a great gardening solution for those that don’t have the space for a full-size garden outdoors.

Create a Handy Laundry Organizer

Are you tired of always having to take that extra time before washing to separate all your laundry? Well, with three laundry hampers, you can easily create a great sorting system that will save you some time on laundry day.

Get a few laundry hampers and label them. For example, you can have a hamper for colors, one for whites, and one for darks. Set them up near the laundry room and instead of throwing all your laundry into one basket to sort out later, it can be sorted as you go for an easy and quick wash and go experience.

It works great for kids as well and helps teach them how to separate their laundry early on. You can always turn it into a fun little game for the smaller kids to get them interested in helping around the house and doing some chores of their own.

Basketball Hoop and Playtime

Do you find that you have a few smaller kids that get easily bored throughout the day and sometimes it can be hard to keep up with small games and things for them to do? Well, grab one of your hampers, set it up with a small little backboard, hand them a few balls and let them make a few baskets.

It is an easy and very inexpensive game for the kids to play and it utilizes a clothes hamper that you already have sitting around the house. It is also easy to clean up and will keep them busy while you fold that laundry!

You can also use a clothes hamper to create a mini ball pit for your little one as well. Simply set them in the hamper and throw a few colorful balls in and they will have a safe and fun area to play while you do what you have to do around the house.

Just like with the napping hamper, it is easy to carry around with you, so your kids are always within reach and you can keep a good eye on them while they play.

A Couple More Ideas

As you can see, there are several uses for those clothes hampers you have laying around the home. They no longer have to be used exclusively for laundry. What other ideas can you come up with to utilize your hampers?

Maybe you have a smaller one you can use in the kitchen to hold your fruits and veggies? Or maybe a smaller one can be used in the bathroom to store your clean towels?

Maybe you can use a few to organize your kids’ toys, hold beach toys, or even put in the car to keep everything organized and in one spot instead of rolling around in the back.

There is no shortage of ideas, and because hampers come in a variety of different styles, shapes, and sizes, your imagination is really the only limit you will find when it comes to getting creative at home with your hampers.
